Could the Galaxy Watch 8 bring back the classic model?
It looks like Samsung might be bringing back the beloved Classic in 2025, and we’re already excited! A new smartwatch, possibly called the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, has been spotted in the GSMA database. This is where every device that connects to cell networks has to be registered, so it’s a pretty strong clue that something is in the works.
The Classic series, which we last saw in 2023, was a fan favorite, especially with its iconic rotating bezel (remember how cool that was on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic?). If this rumor is true, 2025 could be the year the Classic makes its big return.
While details are scarce right now, you can dive into Samsung’s latest offerings by checking out our reviews of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. These will give you a glimpse of how Samsung’s smartwatch series is evolving as we await more news on the potential return of the Classic.
Samsung has been switching up its smartwatch models and naming schemes quite a bit over the years, which makes it tough to predict what’s coming next. However, it’s safe to assume that if the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is making a comeback, we’ll probably see a Galaxy Watch 8 launching right alongside it.
As always, Samsung likes to keep us guessing, but their recent track record suggests that they’re still pushing to innovate and keep things exciting in the smartwatch world. If these rumors hold true, 2025 could shape up to be a big year for Samsung wearables!
A Tale of Two Watches… Every Year
Samsung has made it something of a tradition to mix things up with its smartwatch lineup each year. In 2024, we saw the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, both launching in July. Looking back a bit, 2023 brought us the Galaxy Watch 6 and the fan-favorite Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
However, the Classic wasn’t part of the lineup in 2022. That year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro instead. But in 2021, the Classic variant made its mark alongside the Galaxy Watch 4 with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster trying to keep up with Samsung’s strategy in the smartwatch market. What remains consistent, though, is that the Classic models typically cost a bit more than the standard ones and feature that iconic rotating bezel. For many, that bezel alone has been worth the extra price!
