Microsoft 2025 Surface Lineup Leaks — with a Surprising New Addition!
It seems Microsoft is gearing up for another stellar year in hardware, with fresh updates to its Surface lineup. According to recent leaks, we can expect revamped laptops, a new Pro tablet, and an intriguing, smaller device.
2024 has already set the bar high for Microsoft’s Surface products. From laptops to tablets, the company has delivered exceptional devices that integrate seamlessly with Windows 11. The Surface Pro 11 earned praise as “the best Surface in years,” while the Surface Laptop 7 was hailed as “a true MacBook Air rival.” Both models brought Microsoft’s Copilot+ AI features to the forefront, enhancing user experiences across the board.
Now, thanks to Windows Central’s Zac Bowden, we have a glimpse of Microsoft’s plans for 2025. The lineup reportedly includes the usual Surface Pro and Surface Laptop refreshes, along with a new Surface Laptop Studio and possibly an entirely new 11-inch device.
The mysterious 11-inch model is especially intriguing. Bowden describes it as a “Surface Go-sized Laptop Go hybrid” with premium materials and components. Rumored to run on the Snapdragon X Plus SoC, this compact device could be a game-changer if it makes it to market.
Another exciting addition is the new Surface Laptop Studio. Following the well-received Surface Laptop Studio 2 from 2023, the updated version is expected to retain its unique hinge design, allowing the screen to move beyond the keyboard for creative tasks or immersive entertainment. There’s even talk of a 16-inch model, a significant leap from the current 14.4-inch display.
As for the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, Microsoft seems to be revisiting Intel with Lunar Lake variants. While Lunar Lake may lag behind Apple’s M3 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X in standard benchmarks, its superior AI capabilities could make it a compelling choice.
Bowden doesn’t anticipate major design changes for these models, given the recent updates. However, features like the anti-reflective coating from earlier models might make a return. Additionally, we might see the inclusion of an optional card reader and possibly even a 5G version.
The release dates for these devices remain unclear. Bowden suggests that the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop could arrive in early 2025, while the other products may debut later in the year. Whenever they launch, Microsoft seems poised to make a splash, potentially reshaping the best laptops list yet again.
